Dec 2012 COMMUNITY SERVICE OPPORTUNITIES:

May 15 Program: Donna Lew "Make Your Neighborhood Crime-Proof"

05/15/2012 - 07:30
05/15/2012 - 08:30

"Crime Prevention Through Enviornmental Design" by Donna Lew. Donna will take us through an analysis of how fences, landscape features, sightlines, and other fixed elements of your home's or your neighbors' homes send a message to theives:  "Yes!  Break In To Me!"  or "No!   Not this place!"

Some of the details may surprise you. Is a tall fence better than a short fence?   Donna's presentation uses photo images from her neighborhood on Beacon Hill.

Background:  Research has shown that criminals respond to simple cues about which properties are not good targets.  This is instinctive and as present in our human wiring now as it was thousands of years ago.  Come learn what subtle cues make a difference.
