We are following the excellent program Ruth Moen gave last month on brain-trauma. Dr. Pesskind just published research that's very controversial: Yes, many thousands of our veterans are returning to society carrying lingering effects from the nearby explosions of mortar rounds and improvised explosive devices. Read article from Seattle Times. Despite the potential problems, there's hope people can re-train damaged areas of the brain with learning exercises and games. Does the damage point to early dementia and other progressive problems, or can we proactively help these citizens?
