Board Meeting

March 3, 2010

· 5:30 Call to order – Mark chairing - RVChamber office

· Attended by DeHaan, Davis, Gutknecht, Roth, Williams.

· Old Business

o Treasurer’s report –

§ $5,565 Club account

§ $17,130 Foundation

§ $1,430 Mardi Gras (gross) $971.38 net

o Suggested that we put some foundation funds in a CD

§ Motion passed

o Suggested that we open an account Seattle Metropolitan Credit Union

o We need to check the status of our 501(C)3 (Rusty)

o We paid to join the Chamber

o Nothing new mentioned about the dictionary project

o Mardi Gras – Report

§ 80 people attended - approx $900 net. A lot of stuff was donated, so the net possibly looks larger than reality.

Howard wants to repeat this year's event, in 2011, with some growth in attendance.
Different venues have different advantages - in Columbia City, in a vacant building on Rainier Ave. At a house on Lake Washington

· New Business

§ Fred’s Cinema Night Social –
The Board appreciates Fred’s work in putting a proposal forward
Details:
1) Movie and a dinner
2) Movie unknown until 2-3 weeks before. May focus on one or more films.
3)Advertise it in the South District Journal
4) Date to be set
6) $15/box lunch from Joseph + $8 ticket - Sell for $30? $40?
5) Volunteers needed for trash pickup
6) Susan suggested a Sunday AM event with a film about Rotary
7) Howard asks when/how the social aspect of the "social" happens?
7) Mark suggests we send this back to Fred further development with support from somebody

Book study group: "Small-Mart Revolution.
Howard submitted a written proposal. Budget: $0 First meeting in the next 4 weeks - to be announced.
President-elect questions from Mark: What about by-laws? What are the expectations for incoming and outgoing board members? Who will be the next treasurer and secretary?

Visioning Workshop - Sat. March 13 at Mark Roth's home
Agenda:
What are the passions, values and expectations for everyone?
What is our RVRC elevator pitch?
What are the strengths/weaknesses in our club?
Should we invite recruits to attend this workshop?

Susan proposed a Valley Beautification Day project in April. Details to follow.
