WEEKLY MEETING: Rainier Valley Rotary Club Meets 1st, 2nd & 3rd Tuesday Mornings 7:30-8:30 a.m. @ Light for Life --3820 S Ferdinand St. Ste #102

Enjoy cup of Java & Continental breakfast 7:15am

First Wednesday Meeting - we attend the monthly meeting of the SE Seattle Crime Prevention Council - location is at SE Seattle Seniors Center.

4th Tuesday Board Meetings - evening programs - refer to events calendar for time and location.

Bringing Literacy to the Youths of Rainier Valley. We are proud to partner with Mercer Island Rotary Club creating & sponsoring literacy  programs at Martin Luther King (MLK), Kimball & Van Asselt Elementary Schools. Current  Projects:

  • Rotary Dictionaries
  • MLK Robotics - Fun with Lego Mindstorms
  • Kimball Cougars – Fun with WeDo Robotics

Video From Dec. 18 Reading Books Distribution at Van Asselt Elementary School. We joined the Mercer Island Rotary Club to distribute over 340 books - one for every student.

May 29 Program - Donna Lew - "Make Your Neighborhood Crimeproof!"
Start: 8:13 am

This morning's program is about  "Crime Prevention Through Enviornmental Design" by Donna Lew. Donna will take us through an analysis of how fences, landscape features, sightlines, and other fixed elements of your home's or your neighbors' homes send a message to theives:  "Yes!  Easy Break-In Here!"  or "No!   Not this place!"

June 5 Program: Deborah Crawley - "Who Do I Know Who's Brain Injured?"
Start: 7:30 am
End: 8:30 am

There aren't as many people who're brain-injured as people who are left handed, are there?  Are there as many brain-injured as sleep-impaired?  Just how many brain-injured people are there?  
 
The reality is, a lot of people are brain-injured from sports injuries, auto and motorcycle crashes, experiences in military service, workplace accidents.  People may experience a "concussion" and not even lose consciousness, but experience a myriad of diverse effects:

June 7 - Rainier Rotary 50th Anniversary Celebration
Start: 6:00 pm
End: 8:00 pm

We will gather for a couple of hours to hang-out with former members and Rotarians from other clubs in the Seattle area.   It's great that we made it to 50 years.

June 12 Program: Pat Murakami: Using Software To Leverage Business Results

 Most business owners have an established way of doing business, which includes bookkeeping, publications, marketing, dealing with suppliers and customers.  But are they innovating as fast as they might?  New ways of doing things are not only appreciated by tech-savvy customers, they're expected.  Are you keeping up?  How's your efficiency with e-mail?  Could you get more customers if you used more innovative payment systems?

June 19 Program: Louise Wong "Rainier Beach Biology Trip To Olympic Penninsula

Rainier Valley Rotary Club was pleased to support a field trip by the Rainier Beach High School biology students to the Olympic Penninsula.   Louise Wong, who organized the trip, will come tell us about how the trip went, and show images.
