WEEKLY MEETING: Rainier Valley Rotary Club Meets 1st, 2nd & 3rd Tuesday Mornings 7:30-8:30 a.m. @ Light for Life --3820 S Ferdinand St. Ste #102

Enjoy cup of Java & Continental breakfast 7:15am

First Wednesday Meeting - we attend the monthly meeting of the SE Seattle Crime Prevention Council - location is at SE Seattle Seniors Center.

4th Tuesday Board Meetings - evening programs - refer to events calendar for time and location.

Bringing Literacy to the Youths of Rainier Valley. We are proud to partner with Mercer Island Rotary Club creating & sponsoring literacy  programs at Martin Luther King (MLK), Kimball & Van Asselt Elementary Schools. Current  Projects:

  • Rotary Dictionaries
  • MLK Robotics - Fun with Lego Mindstorms
  • Kimball Cougars – Fun with WeDo Robotics
  • Explorations in Math

Video From Dec. 18 Reading Books Distribution at Van Asselt Elementary School. We joined the Mercer Island Rotary Club to distribute over 340 books - one for every student.

July 27 Program: John Matthews - Rotary District 5030 Programs - Who Benefits?

John Matthews took over as District 5030 Governor earlier this month. The District's 50 clubs comprise over 3000 members.  Each runs it's own programs, and many clubs participate in District-Wide programs like Rotary First Harvest, Rotary Leadership Training, District-Wide Assemblies.   Come find out how these programs can benefit you.

Aug. 3 Program - Dr. Elaine Peskind - "How Blast-Shock Is Affecting Returning Vets"

 Dr. Elaine Peskind is a psychiatrist, U.W. brain researcher, and works with returning vets at Beacon Hill's Veteran's Hospital.  She's recently published a study that has received a lot of notoriety, including a front-page article in the Seattle Times.  Dr.

Aug. 10 Program: Alison Holcomb - American Civil Liberties Union

Free Speech.   The right to assemble.  Freedom of religion.   The right to bear arms.  These constitutional rights have been defended thousands of times over many decades by the American Civil Liberties Union.   We all know this.  But how does the American Civil Liberties Union deal with the rights-busting elements of our current "War On Drugs"?  Come find out.

Aug. 17 Program - Carol Ryan - "Explorations In Math" For Math-Loving Kids
Start: 7:17 am
End: 8:30 am

Explorations In Math is a local math enrichment program for elementary school-age kids.  They run a yearly "MathFest" event at the Rainier Valley Community Center, run enrichment programs in several local elementary schools, and more.  All their programs are designed to make math fun - through games and fun learning exercises.  View Short Video.
